| Wherever man has walked, politics may be
found. We find this in our Churches, amongst our families and even with
Masonry. Whether in the form of traditional governmental and social
politics working its way into the conversation of its members or in the
form of inner Lodge politics, politics does exist.
I am not a Masonic politician nor am I interested in the perks and
benefits that come from such pursuits, therefore I am not motivated to
stay within the bounds of being Masonicly politically correct.
I refer to these bodies as being part of the Masonic "Extended
Family" because, like members of a widespread family, they do not
live under the same roof. You do not speak with them every day and it is
not assumed that they will "be there" every Sunday evening for
family dinner. You must go to some effort to reach them, talk with them
and if you want them at a family get-together, some special arrangements
have to be made.
I will not enter into the discussions of which body is Regular and
which is not. The ins and outs of that argument are changing amidst the
fraternal battle of the paperclips almost on a daily basis. My interest is
in the pursuit of Truth. Not the type of truth that is meant when one
seeks the validity of a body or a man's credentials; I refer to the Truth,
composed of many Truths that lead me further in my quest for understanding
of myself and my Creator.
The bodies mentioned here are Regular in some eyes and not in others. I
only know that good people are present in all and their words and counsel
have helped me along the Path. Whether they carry Blue membership cards or
green salute with the right hand or the left, I have found qualities that
I wish to emulate, knowledge that I wish to learn and wisdom which I
someday hope to attain. These are Truths.
